Nailpolish and death… in ancient China

Did you know the Chinese developed nail polish around 3000 BCE by mixed gum Arabic, gelatin, beeswax, egg, and coloring agents? The color of this early nail polish came from natural pigments. Petals of flowers such as roses and orchids were also added as decoration.

Only members of the upper classes were allowed to paint their nails in colors of the ruling regime; members of lower classes faced the death penalty for doing so.

No need to be afraid of death penalty today. Have your fingernails decorated the way you want at Aspen Salon and Spa.
